The Challenge As a Data Scientist in the Threat Intelligence team, you will identify, manage and analyze massive amounts of (real-time) threat intelligence data from various sources. The main goal is to support the development of processes and technologies required to enhance the threat related knowledge base and the overall detection rates. By leveraging a variety of analytical models, methods, applications and tools with the purpose of uncovering hidden patterns in the security-related data, you will generate high quality insights to benefit the company to protect its users on a global scale. The following skills will help you fulfill your responsibilities: Solid understanding of general computer programming concepts and data structures Proficiency with statistical and visualization oriented libraries using Python Extensive knowledge of data management systems (SQL/NoSQL querying concepts) Experience with basic cyber-security concepts, tools and data Proven understanding of mathematical, statistical and machine learning concepts Experience with distributed data, AWS cloud computing services and tools, and big data technologies (e.g. Hadoop, Hive, SageMaker, Spark, and ELK stack). Strong analytical, technical, organizational and communication skills Driven by curiosity and passion, self-driven, result-oriented What you will do Starting from day one you will familiarize yourself with our ecosystem and tool stack, as well as the main data source systems. Within the first 3 months, you are fully integrated as a data scientist into the Threat Intelligence team. You are taking part in the development of the cyber-threat intelligence data collection and analysis processes. You are taking responsibilities for the processing, cleansing and integrity verification of certain data sets, along with delivering presentations that illustrate findings through visualizations, charts, graphs. Within the first 6 months you are an expert for the Threat Intelligence Platform, having a complete understanding of its integration into Avira’s protection technologies and architecture landscape, you collaborate with relevant teams to identify requirements and use cases relevant to the predictive analysis of malicious activity and you have aquired the domain specific knowledge needed to research relevant literature and analyze applicability of concepts, communicate and prove results. Within the first year you will be truly integrated within a team that delivers the most up-to-date Threat Intelligence solutions to millions of customers. You take full ownership of cross-department projects and collaborate efficiently with other teams. You are keen to improve existing technologies and implement new and innovative features.
