We offer a global sales network and 24/7 support (service) network to ensure maximum performance of our products.The roleAs an Estimating Manager serving international markets, you are responsible for the correct and effective handling of inquiries, quotations and hand-over of orders to operations department. In this position you will be part of the sales department, working for Van der Velden Romania based in Galati. (Van der Velden Romania is fully owned by Damen Marine Components headquartered in Hardinxveld, the Netherlands). The Estimating Manager combines technical knowledge with excellent communication skills in English language, and the commercial mindset so that together with the other departments, engineering, purchase and sales, to lead to well-budgeted quotations to serve the sales department in their endeavor to acquire new orders for the company. During the development of sales projects you are coordinating with your colleagues in other sales areas, the engineering department, project management and other stakeholders. Goal: Drafting technical specifications for rudders and steering gear systems in accordance to the inquiries received and calculating the sales price in close contact with procurement department.Key accountabilities• Preparing and issuing offers; collecting the necessary data from various departments for the purpose of drawing up a technical proposal, determining the price and the conditions in consultation with the area sales manager • Assess product technical/financial possibilities and advise on product type that meets the needs of the potential customer • Engaging other departments when deemed necessary • Determining market-based price levels and maximizing marginSkills & experience• Graduate of Naval Architecture or Mechanical Engineering • Minimum 10 years of experience in the maritime sector. • Excellent command of the English language in word and writing; • Advanced user of MS Office programs and AutoCAD (or similar CAD software, 2D or 3D); • Excellent communicator to internal and external stakeholders; • Willingness to travel abroad by occasion; • Compliance with company and work regulations; • Comply with the “HSE regulations” and the safety and environmental regulations applicable to his work [including legal obligations] and ensure that others also comply with these regulations;What we offer• Interesting role in providing high-tech / state-of-the-art manoeuvring solutions to the global maritime industry with a major player in shipbuilding; • Competitive salary package in accordance with the job responsibilities; • International working environment.
