For our IT department we are looking for an as soon as possible Research Data Manager (m/f/d) You will work in a team of six employees in a central service unit of the institute. Your tasks Analysis of existing solutions and processes in the field of research data management. Development and implementation of a concept for an institutional service offering for research data management based on existing standards and best practices. Development of concepts for secure long-term storage and discoverability of social science research data. (Further) development and administration of the systems necessary for research data management with external and MPG internal partners. In this context, you will be responsible for acting as data protection coordinator for the research data management agency in a team of three staff members who perform this role for different areas across the institute Advise and train academic staff on research data management (from the planning and collection phase to data storage, preparation of research data management plans). Elaboration and maintenance of documentation, guidelines and handouts on FDM. Your profile Required: Successfully completed university studies (B.A.-/FH-level) in computer science, business informatics or a comparable course of study with IT reference. Alternatively: proven, equivalent skills and experience due to several years of professional activity in the field of activity described above. Knowledge of research data management in the social sciences/digital humanities field. Analytical thinking, very good communication skills, quick comprehension, strong teamwork skills. Willingness to further education in the field of activity and its edges. independent, systematic and constructive working style confident handling of appropriately common IT systems (e.g., databases, scientific application programs) very good English and German language skills, both written and spoken. Desirable: Proven skills and experience due to several years of professional activity in the above-described field of activity (career starters with successfully completed university studies are also very welcome). Basic knowledge of copyright and data protection law Team spirit, openness to cross-functional issues and the challenge of working out solutions to problems in professionally mixed teams Knowledge of common paradigms, methods and metadata as well as persistent identifier standards.
