Analog Devices (NASDAQ: ADI) designs and manufactures semiconductor products and solutions. We enable our customers to interpret the world around us by intelligently bridging the physical and digital worlds with unmatched technologies that sense, measure and connect.
The Systems Development Group (SDG) is seeking a PCB Design & Analysis Engineer to join our customer facing product reference designs team that supports broad range of industry leading high-performance linear solutions and standard products in end applications such as industrial automation, instrumentation, automotive, healthcare and communication systems.
The PCB Design & Analysis Engineer is responsible for developing printed circuit boards based on ADI reference designs interfacing our products to various embedded processors including FPGAs. As part of a cross functional team, the PCB Design & Analysis Engineer performs definition, development, implementation and documentation of engineering prototypes, and production ready designs, supporting the hardware development team, embedded FPGA/HDL design team, and software team in bringing concepts to reality, and solving tough electrical, RF, Microwave, thermal, and mechanical challenges. As part of ADI’s Systems Development Group you will create multilayer high-density printed circuit board designs.
Our ideal candidate will possess exceptional technical expertise and collaborative people skills with the proven ability to work within a technically dynamic, high-growth, fast-paced and strategically important business unit.
Responsibilities:
• Work from schematics, net lists, part lists, and basic description of the board function, constraints, configuration, and arrangement as defined by engineering teams
• Interface with EE and ME staff for design development and solving board level related issues
• Establish all electrical functionality (current carrying, isolation requirements, stack-up, Power integrity analysis, which includes but not limited to layout extraction, electromagnetic and HSPICE simulation for analog and RF insights, implementing decoupling strategy and analysis)
• Performs lab measurements and correlates to simulation as well as refine future models
• Performs signal/power/thermal integrity simulation and analysis of electronic assemblies and their constituent parts which may include: high speed memory, printed-wiring-boards, packages, and materials
• Full-wave simulation and model extraction for signal integrity, power integrity, and thermal analysis
• Special noise-sensitive power supply analysis and layout guideline.
• Signal trace length matching and impact to timing.
• Perform detailed layout design and documentation of printed circuit boards
• Optimize layer stackup & power plane assignment to minimize voltage noise, and decrease cost
• Crosstalk analysis and reduction.
• Work under minimal supervision
• Works with ADI’s Global PCB team to ensure designs meet ADI’s internal standards, and collaboratively
• Library maintenance (symbols, footprints, geometry, etc). is done by a separate global team
• Generates PCB design packages (i.e. Gerber files, fabrication drawings, assembly drawings, etc.)
• Collaboration with PCB vendors to continually improve design rules, constraints and design for manufacture, assembly and test guidelines
• Produce 3D models of boards for mechanical integration
• Produce 2D CAD drawings for board fabrication and assembly
• Prepare all necessary artwork /electronic data required for complete board fabrication
