Description
The LAN Service Engineer will work as a part of the Service Engineering Group within Enterprise Cybersecurity and Network Solutions (ECNS), to engineer services delivered and operated in a globally consistent manner by Service Delivery &Operations.This position will be predominately focused on the design and engineering of services within our LAN Services portfolio, with a primary focus on the Managed LAN Service.
Responsibilities
- Working with Service Design/Service Lead on the initial service/releases for LAN Services (including but not limited to Managed LAN, Managed DHCP, and IPAM services);
- Working in a cross functional team to develop the service and required transition deliverables;
- Working in a cross functional team to ensure the services are built and tested to defined standards for processes, hardware, software, and configurations;
- Work with the Service Delivery & Operations group to train and handover services so they can be delivered and supported consistently;
- Work with other Managed Services teams to develop standards, procedures, and training for where interaction with LAN Services is required;
- Participate in, and apply the same process for subsequent service releases as defined by the Service Roadmap;
- Stay up-to-date and work with new and emerging technologies in order to improve LAN related services;
- Provide LAN design expertise that aligns with Managed LAN Service for new buildings, re-designs, acquisitions, and other LAN projects to meet current LAN service levels and supported hardware;
- Provide and/or check finalized Build of Material list (parts list) for LANs;
- Working knowledge of LAN technologies and protocols used in enterprise networks;
- Layer 2 and 3 design aspects for enterprise LANs;
- Ability to design and troubleshoot highly available LANs;
- Working knowledge of LAN media types and ability to diagnose issues remotely;
- Collaborate with team to provide feedback for improving processes and standards for LAN Services aligned with management and service roadmap;
- Provide and/or check LAN documentation and that designs adhere with standards;
- Work with other LAN projects and services as needed;
- Provides 4th level support to Operations for escalated issues for LAN Services (specifically but not limited to Managed LAN, Managed DHCP, and IPAM Services).
Requirements
- BA/BS in Information Systems or related area required;
- Minimum seven years of IT experience;
- Minimum two years of service transition or service engineering experience;
- Minimum of two years’ experience in the design, implementation and operation of Local Area Networks with Cisco hardware in an enterprise environment;
- Advanced knowledge of IP, routing, and subnetting;
- Experience of using Cisco AAA solutions (e.g ACS and/or ISE) is a plus;
- Cisco LAN Certification preferred;
- ITIL v3 Foundation Level;
