Lead Support Data Engineer (Azure)Up to £70K plus benefits including bonus Flexible working - In office once a fortnight or more remote options available to suit youGleeson Recruitment Group are working with a leading FS organisation based in Birmingham. They are looking for a Lead Support Data Engineer to not only lead on the Data Engineering side but also in the support function for the Data Centre of Excellence.The Lead Support Data Engineer is expected to lead the technical engineering operational function ensuring the team provides full support of all information provision from the DCOE and managing all aspects from the service design operation of the service including line management. As a senior team member, it is expected that this role will work with the other leads on joint aspects of the data engineering function.This role is key to achieving success within the Data Excellence pillar of our Data Strategy which has a primary objective of getting the right data, to the right people, at the right time by developing our flexible data architecture.Must have experience with and want to get involved in the support side of things (defining and managing the processes/SLAs/what we can and cant do - managing tickets etc)Role responsibilities:Lead the operation; maintenance and support of the DCOE information services including managing the team who provide these servicesEnsure any incidents or issues are proactively managed and clearly communicated to all relevant stakeholdersEnsure all information services run smoothly and that the processes to deliver the services are well designed and operate effectively and are proactively monitoredEnsure all the infrastructure resources used for the data services are fully supported by the IT function and build strong working relationships with the IT teams that perform supportDesign and develop the support service, creating innovative solutions that ensure the services are performing at the highest standardsCreate the organisational policies, standards, and guidelines so the service is effective and well managed including planning future capacity requirementsDesign, own and implement standards for monitoring and error handling in the design of the ETL and other ingestion servicesEnsure that all artefacts that form the solutions are developed to the agreed standards and meet all requirements to be supported - leading the peer reviews and release management for both major release and small changeManage the small change process prioritising; scheduling and resourcing the changes as well as managing the communication and presentation to stakeholders.Work with the development teams for creation of the complex solutions for data integration, ingestion, and data dissemination to ensure solutions include functionality to enable proactive monitoring and to manage the smooth handover from development to productionLead the test activities and acceptance processes in the delivery frameworkEnsure all monitoring and issue management is managedDesign and manage all the BAU processesManage access management and security of the dataGuides decisions in respect of resource availability and functional objectivesDevelop innovative solutions to very complex issues and acts as best practice/quality expert within and outside the team in Data EngineeringWith the team design, develop, construct, test and maintain the operational and dimensional data models within the warehouse systemsDevise and manage ways to improve data reliability, efficiency and quality of the dataWorking closely with the Data Architects to ensure all aspects of the data management are managed and coordinate with the other teams in the DCOE and Architecture to ensure the methods and strategies are correctly aligned to the requirements for dataExperience needed: Expertise in Service Management and operational supportExpert in the field of the data engineering and exemplar for the rest of that teamExpert in operational support of complex ETL solutionsExperience in designing and managing information servicesExpert at developing data transformations (ELT/ETL) and delivering data for analysisExpertise in developing data solutions establishing enterprise data warehouses and other complex data service platforms especially in a cloud environmentExpertise in Datamodelling including designing transactional databases and data warehousesDegree level expertise in a quantitative discipline (eg, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, economics)Experience of designing and implementing data solutions on Azure utilising Azure Blob Storage, Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Cosmos DB, Azure SQL Database, Azure Databricks and Azure Synapse AnalyticsExpert knowledge of T-SQLPlease apply ASAP if interested and want to hear more.
