Oracle Data Engineer

Overview
The primary purpose of the Oracle Data Engineer position is to provide technical leadership and engineering for the overall quality of the enterprise database environment. This includes development, support, capacity and performance planning, documentation of deployed frameworks and ongoing evaluations of core technologies for these areas. Lead efforts cross-functiolly in adhering to standards and best practices.
Responsibilities
- Monitors system performance diagnosing software and hardware failures to resolution
- Provides patch magement and distribution capabilities to prevent new threats with minimized physical infrastructure impacts.
- Creates and tests data backups. Provides data cleansing services, verifies data integrity, and implements access controls.
- Performs database configuration, monitoring, and tuning.
- Routine maintence including problem defect alysis and resolution, space, storage, object magement, physical database layout, rollback segment magement, and temporary space magement.
- Supports logs and alerts, access rights and roles, database instance version control. New IDs, roles, authorizations, audits, locked/unlocked status, revocation.
- Performs memory usage monitoring, database parameter configuration, database resources, I/O distribution. Ensures system health, maintence, technical security, recovery, and basic application technical tuning.
- Maintains Oracle Critical Upgrades and patch magement schedules.
- Supports Systems Development, Migration, and Integration efforts as needed.
Key Skills
- Solid experience on Oracle RAC 11gR2 including RMAN and ASM.
- Experience on AWS Redshift or PostgreSQL v8
- Experience supporting Data Warehouse databases, 25 TB or more.
- Experience on SQL-Plus, PL/SQL, PSQL and Unix/Linux shell scripting.
- Experience troubleshooting performance issues at database level – execution plan and alysis
- Work with cross-functiol teams to resolve technical performance issues/bottlenecks across network, storage, or application.
- Working knowledge of both Relatiol and Dimensiol data modelling.
- Experience working with ticketing systems like Service Now, Jira or others.
