We are looking for a Principal Android Engineer who is passionate about building modern, scalable applications for Android Mobile, TV, and Automotive. Our Android platform at DAZN is currently built and innovated by a dynamic group of 30 professionals distributed across 4 teams. Managing a shared codebase, we aim to further grow this dedicated community. This role is based in Katowice. We support a remote working model but if you’d like to work from the office – you are more than welcome. Here's what you will do (not all of it, just the important stuff!) Foster collaboration among multiple teams working on Android applicationsMaintain expertise to represent Android in cross-domain decision-makingIdentify new technologies, tools, and frameworks relevant to Android developmentSupport teams with hands-on tasks when necessary, and be involved in every step of the software development processPromote the growth of engineers across the organization through mentoring, coaching, and hiringIdentify future technical risks and propose strategies for mitigationEngage in regular communication with engineers and teams from all domains on engineering-related topics and initiativesCommunicate with third-party vendors and partners as neededConstructively challenge and evaluate the technical decisions made by engineering teams You’ll be set up for success if you have: Strong leadership skills with the ability to drive technical excellence within the team, make informed decisions, and effectively collaborate with other teams and stakeholdersExtensive experience in Android application development, including a deep understanding of the Android SDK, Java, and Kotlin programming languagesProven experience in architecting, designing, and implementing complex, scalable, and maintainable Android applicationsPossess the ability to effectively mentor, coach, and support engineers, helping them reach their full potential while creating a growth-oriented and nurturing environment within the teamStrong understanding of Android app performance optimisation techniques, memory management, and best practicesDemonstrated experience with Android application testing frameworks, Continuous Integration (CI), and Continuous Deployment (CD) pipelinesExcellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and clearly articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
