Total Resourcing Ltd is seeking a dynamic and experienced Project Director with expertise in CANDU Refurbishments to lead critical projects within the nuclear sector. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the entirety of project lifecycles, ensuring successful delivery per established goals regarding time, cost, and quality. You will lead a team of project managers and engineers while engaging with various stakeholders to uphold compliance, quality standards, and project objectives. This position requires a strategic thinker with a proven ability to drive complex projects, manage risks, and foster a collaborative environment focused on continuous improvement and learning from experience. The Project Director shall manage the Refurbishment Project within the approved levels of authority. This includes, but is not limited to: · Ensure Safety is prioritized above all else in the project · Foster an environment of continuous improvement toward the successful completion of the project · Working with stakeholders to define the project objectives, scope and deliverables · Assignment of applicable scope, budget, schedule and contingency to the Refurbishment Project for management of the project · Set up EPC contracts and provide turnover to the PMO for management of the scope assigned to applicable EPC contractors · Oversee the PMO performance to ensure execution within the contract terms · Approve the resource improvement plan and allocate appropriate personnel and budget to the U1 Refurbishment Project to implement and manage · Communicate project updates, milestones and issues to stakeholders · Oversee and review the preparation of board level presentations and updates · Monitor the quality of work delivered and ensure that outcomes meet the quality standards · Monitor project expenses and ensure adherence to the budget · Approve financial reports submitted by the Refurbishment Project · Facilitate communication between all parties on the Refurbishment Project · Evaluate the performance of the Refurbishment Project against predefined KPIs · Assess and approve changes to project scope, budget and schedule beyond the Refurbishment levels of authority · Conduct regular reviews for the implementation of lessons learned Key Responsibilities: • Project Management: Assist the Refurbishment Project Director in managing the overall project execution plan • Stakeholder Communication: Ensure efficient collaboration between internal teams, contractors, regulatory authorities, and external stakeholders, coordinating communication channels across the project and the organization. • Contract Management: Collaborate with the Contract Management team to ensure contracts are executed properly, addressing any issues that arise on behalf of the owner. • Project Reporting: Ensure project reporting for Construction by the prime contractor is accurate with respect to budget, scope and schedule. • Monitoring and Control: Providing input to project KPIs, ensuring alignment with the established schedule and budget, and work with the team to address deviations. • Risk Management: Identify risks to the owner and ensure the risk identification and mitigation planning, are in place to meet contractual requirements. • Safety: Ensure Safety is prioritized and all processes are followed. Requirements Professional Knowledge and Experience: Minimum 15 years of experience in managing large-scale projects, including significant exposure to nuclear projects or refurbishments. At least 8 years of experience with CANDU Nuclear Power Plants or equivalent projects. Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business management or a related field Prior experience or training in a Canadian run CANDU refurbishment will be considered an asset. Proven track record in previous large Projects in the Nuclear field; preferably proven experience with investment projects worth at least 100 million, EUR Skills and abilities: Ability to define high standards and expectations to increase the performance of subordinate personnel. Demonstrated proficiency in project reporting, procurement, and contract management, particularly in refurbishment settings. Strong decision-making skills, particularly when dealing with scope changes and risk management. Highly organized with excellent problem-solving abilities, capable of providing leadership in both day-to-day operations and crisis situations. Promptness in solving problems: Proven ability to manage multiple complex priorities in a fast-paced project environment. Ability to use analysis, value judgments, experience and logical methods to make the right decisions, leading to effective solutions. Communication, teamwork, development of interpersonal relationships Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills, with an ability to present to senior management and external stakeholders. Fluency in English is Mandatory Ability to share achievements and successes with team members, so that each team member feels valuable and appreciated.
