Job summaryAutonomous Insights Discovery is looking for a Senior Software Development Engineer to work on software systems that protect our customers, partners, and associates from unsafe products. We ensure our associates' security, and provide technical expertise to enable safe, compliant, and efficient execution across our supply chain.We research, innovate, advance the state-of-the-art, and build machine learning systems to proactively identify safety and compliance risks in Amazon’s retail business. We leverage computer vision and natural language processing to enable the analysis, validation and data extraction from aggregated volumes of tens of millions of documents and images (such as safety datasheets, declarations of conformity, product labels). We design and build compliance and safety software systems and tools that enable us to meet our objectives and scale cost effectively, as we continue to expand into newer and complex businesses and grow our selection.Key job responsibilitiesOperate with limited guidance, taking a long-term view of the team’s services and how it fits into the broader architecture.Participate in the full end-to-end development cycle of large-scale distributed software applications, tools, systems and services;Collaborate with scientists and other engineering teams to determine the right approaches to deploy, retrain and monitor the performance of ML models;Translate functional requirements into robust, scalable, maintainable solutions that work well within the overall system architecture and lead the technical strategy of the team;Dive deep into the technical architecture, evaluate and make decisions around the use of new or existing software products and tools (such as AWS solutions) to find the best approaches for each architectural component;Develop, implement and test products, build their infrastructure and ensure that alarms, metrics and dashboards are in place, to be used for support and maintenance purposes;Produce comprehensive internal (runbooks, for example) and external facing software documentation;A day in the lifeYou will be closely collaborating with research scientists transforming their cutting edge work into products, iterating at a fast pace and delighting our end users. Working in an Agile mode, you will be involved in all stages of software development from concept to design, infrastructure, implementation, and maintenance.About the teamWe are part of Autonomous Insights Discovery (AID) Organization with a mission to automate safety and compliance checking of products sold on the Amazon retail websites.
