Job summaryAmazon Autonomous Insights Discovery is looking for a Software Development Engineer to work on software systems that protect our customers, partners, and associates from unsafe products, ensure our associates' security, and provide technical expertise to enable safe, compliant, and efficient execution across our supply chain.We research, innovate, advance the state-of-the-art, and build ML systems to proactively identify safety and compliance risks in Amazon’s retail business. We leverage computer vision and NLP to enable the analysis, validation and data extraction from aggregated volumes of tens of millions of documents and images (such as safety datasheets, declarations of conformity, product labels), and billions of customer reviews associated with products in Amazon catalog across all marketplaces. We envision and build best in class compliance and safety software systems and tools that enable us to meet our objectives and scale cost effectively, as we continue to expand into newer and complex businesses and grow our selection.Key job responsibilitiesParticipate in the full end-to-end development cycle of large-scale distributed software applications, tools, systems and services;Collaborate with scientists and other engineering teams to determine the right approaches to deploy, retrain and monitor the performance of ML models;Translate functional requirements into robust and scalable solutions that work well within the overall system architecture;Dive deep into the technical architecture, evaluate and make decisions around the use of new or existing software products and tools (such as AWS solutions) to find the best approaches for each architectural component;Develop, implement and test products, build their infrastructure and ensure that alarms, metrics and dashboards are in place, to be used for support and maintenance purposes;Produce comprehensive and usable internal (runbooks, for example) and external facing software documentation;
