Staff Full Stack Engineer in Roman

OpStart is searching for an innovative and experienced full-stack engineer to lead technology execution in line with our mission. Our product today is a finance department in a box for startups – we take over management of all accounting and finance tasks, allowing entrepreneurs to focus on their product and growth while OpStart keeps their books clean and compliant. Delivering this product involves a combination of manual processes, software automation, and communication with customers. Our technology team is focused on improving this product by reducing the manual effort and communication required to deliver it. Our initial priority is launching a platform that makes finance more accessible for entrepreneurs. We are seeking to empower founders by providing a “home page for finance” that allows them to access information, track tasks, and meet deadlines in one central location. Additionally, our product and technology teams work closely with our accounting team to identify inefficiencies in their execution processes and develop automations to eliminate them. Our goal is to streamline OpStart’s operations by facilitating communication and make life easier for clients. In the long-run, the product can become a standalone tool for entrepreneurs trying to understand their own financial and back-office needs. This engineer will help us build and maintain a seamless Client experience. The role reports directly to the VP of Product and the tech department currently consists of 3 contract developers that have been working on the MVP since Q3 of 2022. We currently host one standup per week and one retro after each project so asynchronous transparency and comfort with autonomy is key.ResponsibilitiesLead the architecture, design, and development of our Client platform as well as vendor selection Use your diverse engineering skills to create robust and scalable services and contribute to delightful user experiences. Work in NodeJS, typescript, express and other backend technologies Assist and influence frontend portions of the system leveraging Typescript, React, and vite Publish robust documentation and articulate a long-term technical direction and vision for maintaining and scaling our core technologyContribute, review, and iterate on design decisions, code, and automated tests ● Work alongside our VP of Product to inform and lead our technology strategy and best equip our Accounting team to provide white glove service Establish standards and ensure compliance and accuracy for the company’s technology performance, including cloud architecture, data warehouse, and communication technologies RequirementsRelevant full-stack development experience with user-centric, data-driven web-based applications Experience in developing and managing systems and services including technologies like JavaScript, RESTFul APIs, GraphQL, SQL, CI/CD, DevOps, and other cloud services Experience in creating greenfield product(s) for high-growth organizationsProven ability to define technical requirements and system architecture with clarity on feasibility, time, cost and impact Ability to perform code reviews and review/approve system architecture and database structures Skills Passionate about enabling small businesses to succeed Strong written and verbal communication skills: can communicate fluently and clearly to a broad range of key stakeholders Self-starter with an eagerness to find, create, and own new initiatives and opportunities Team-player with a launch to learn mindset + a propensity to action Detail-oriented, well-organized, strong decision-making and problem-solving skillsAbility and enthusiasm to perform in a fast-paced environment
